Octapas - International Tapas Bar stands as the flagship dining destination of El Mesa Group, prominently located at Blk D, #01-08 Clarke Quay along Singapore's iconic river waterfront. What began as a Spanish tapas bar has evolved into a comprehensive International Tapas Bar offering a complete dining experience that spans from casual lunchtime dining to vibrant late-night entertainment. The restaurant's prime riverside location provides stunning views of Marina Bay Sands from outdoor seating areas, while its position next to the famous Slingshot G-Max Ride places it at the heart of Clarke Quay's bustling entertainment district.
The menu features an extensive selection of global dishes, bar bites, and finger foods drawing from both Continental and Asian cuisines, with particular emphasis on traditional Spanish offerings including hot and cold tapas, authentic paellas, and classic Sangrias. Signature dishes include Blistered Padron Peppers, Champinones Al Ajillo, and the popular Patatas Bravas - deep fried potatoes in spicy tomato sauce and cilantro aioli. Crowd favorites include the Valenciana and Mariscos paellas, plus a distinctive Spanish-style prawn aglio olio called Gambas Pasta. The restaurant concludes meals with specialty desserts, particularly the beloved Churros and Crema Catalan, ensuring an authentic Spanish dining experience.
Octapas operates daily from midday to 1:00am, extending to 2:00am on weekend nights, transforming throughout the day from a relaxed dining venue to an energetic nightlife destination. During evenings, the restaurant comes alive with live entertainment featuring a top-class international house band performing vibrant renditions of top 40 hits, creating a party atmosphere that continues late into the night. The combination of excellent food, scenic river views, live music, and late-night hours makes Octapas a perfect group dining spot for family and friends, as well as a premier destination for visitors seeking the quintessential Clarke Quay experience of dining, drinks, and entertainment in one dynamic riverside location.
Here's the edited review:
Always check your bill over there.
It wasn't my first time here, and I couldn't say that anything had changed. I'm just personally getting very sensitive about being overcharged on my bills. I just started checking my bills, paying attention to details, for the last couple of months. After that, I realized that a lot of places were overcharging me.
So I'm writing a review here because of the overcharges.
I was here a few times during the month. And of course, mistakes happen. When it's overcrowded indoors, I guess human error is okay. Wrong item, double item, or whatever.
This time there were 3 of us, simply sitting by the river. It was only a few tables.
The staff called us in when we were passing by, offering 50% off all drinks. My friends said it sounded good. I double-checked with the staff, and we went in.
We saw quite a few tables, and different staff were explaining the promotion.
Well, it was a good night overall. Meaning I was enjoying spending some time with friends.
We each had about 10 pints and a lot of food.
The food was okay. We all liked the octopus. The drinks – they were tap beers – were all right.
I would never leave any reviews when it comes to being understaffed and having to catch your own waiter, because I understand the sad F&B situation of Singapore.
We stayed for over 3 hours, and I asked for the bill.
The bill was $750+. I looked at the bill and the staff's facial expression. Something looked odd.
If it wasn't the first time being overcharged here, maybe I wouldn't be so skeptical. Now it looks like it's company SOP. Since we had quite a few drinks, perhaps we wouldn't see the price difference. When people are drunk, who cares, right?
The gentleman who presented the bill asked if something was wrong. I asked, "What about the 50% off all day long until 3:00 AM?"
The answer was: perhaps I misheard, or it was a miscommunication, or one of the staff didn't know. It's actually only one or two items.
I thought "OMG" in my head; I wasn't that drunk, and I'm not stupid. They were explaining the promotion all night long to all the guests.
Secondly, if you get caught in the act, just say sorry and keep quiet. Perhaps it was the manager. Who's he going to blame, his staff or the actual guests' hearing problems? Which is odd as well. He should be taking responsibility.
Anyway, they adjusted the bill; it was actually 50% off, so we just paid half of $750.
In addition, the place has a good view and some live music. The 50% deal should be attracting a crowd. But please, whatever you do, when settling the bill, check it carefully.

⭐☆☆☆☆ | Extremely Disappointed – Poor Service
This might be better for locals, but it is not for tourists. ⚠️Avoid at any cost!
I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent experience was terrible.
It’s unfortunate because the restaurant has potential, but this level of service is unacceptable.
I hope this review encourages change. Until then, I cannot recommend this place.

Here's the lightly edited review:
We tried this with the HSBC Entertainer, which offers 1 for 1 tapas. We ordered the Gambas Al Ajillo (Fresh prawns sautéed in garlic and extra virgin olive oil), Tortilla Espanola (Spanish omelette with potato confit and iberico ham), Chorizo De Patatas (Chorizo, baby potatoes, wine, rosemary and alioli), and Pinchos Morunos - Pork (Moorish Kebabs with Mojo Picon Spanish BBQ in sticks with smoky pepper sauce from the Canary Islands). The prawns, omelette, and chorizo were decent, but the kebabs were a total letdown. They were tough and chewy and honestly lacked much flavor. We regretted ordering the kebab. The service staff were also not too friendly, but the atmosphere (there was a live band that Thursday we were there) made the overall experience all right.

We asked a staff member before ordering if we could use the Entertainer App. We were told we could order anything from the mains. So we did. Then, when we asked again if we could use two 1-for-1 offers, we were told that it was only applicable for Tapaz. But we had already ordered sisig and Lechon Kawali. Anyway, it was resolved thanks to the Filipino staff member. The other staff member was quite rude and persistent, but we were not at fault. You should educate your staff before confirming anything and not put the blame on customers when you've informed them wrongly. So, it's only right to own up to your mistake. We went there to relax a little bit and eat nice food, only to end up fed up and irritated.

When I came to your pub, I saw a guy who was irresponsible and didn't know how to treat people. Even after I paid him and bought him a drink, he kept telling me to leave. I won't go there, and I won't suggest it to my friends. I hate it so much. Your pub is very bad. Don't ever treat anyone like that. Very bad.

Extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. While the view was lovely, the service was lacking. Despite only a few tables being occupied, the waiter seemed to ignore us completely. The portion sizes were unsatisfactory, and the steak did not justify its price.

We ordered a beer, but it was room temperature. I politely asked the staff if they could change it for an iced one. The staff said they could only add ice cubes. I didn't feel any apology from her. Would the beer taste good with ice cubes? If you don't have iced beer, you should let me know in advance. And the cocktails didn't taste like alcohol at all. Secondly, the live band that night was terrible. The lead singer couldn't sing at all and just twisted her body. They finally sang a few songs, but they were terrible. I had no idea what they were singing. The whole bar was silent and weird. After drinking our drinks, we went to another bar.

I had planned to come out for a good night and came across this club, which advertised unlimited free-flow cocktails for the first 50 ladies. Indeed, my lady friends received their first free cocktail. Happily, they ordered a second drink, and then I was shocked to be given a bill for $24 per drink. When I clarified, the waiter said my lady friend agreed to the charge. When I asked her, she said no. Then the waiter got annoyed. He said free was only for the first drink. "Hah???" I asked. Then he said it was chargeable at $2 per drink. What the hell! If you guys run a promotion, please make sure your staff get their act together. What a disappointment. No wonder Singapore nightlife is going from bad to worse, and many places are closing now. Better to invest in a nice sound system and large-screen TV at home and enjoy drinks, only paying the standard 10% service charge and 9% GST!
Marc Sim
The food was just terrible. We had the sliders and the prawns, and the taste and quality were so low. However, no complaints about the drinks, service, and atmosphere.

They offer a combination of a few Spanish tapas and a decent Paella. Tasty if not spectacular.
The main focus is a good array of Filipino favourites, arguably some of the best Filipino food in Singapore.
What keeps me coming back is the excellent band. Currently, the Filipino band, B.O.P Band, performs. Part of the band performs 2 acoustic sets from 7 PM, then the full complement kicks off high-energy sets from 9:45 PM. Great performances and a wide repertoire. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Had a fantastic night at this bar. The vibe is perfect for a night out with friends. Special shoutout to our waiter, Kurt – super attentive, friendly, and provided good service. Everything was a blast; even the band was superb, and the DJ was amazing. I would definitely come back! ❤️🫶🏼 Kudos, Octapas!

The live music creates a nice vibe. The food is nice. The prices are comparatively better. However, I was not happy with their staff service. Some staff members were really helpful, while others did not pay attention to orders, causing significant delays for some dishes. Despite this, it's worth going there. I would suggest coming around 8 PM, sitting outside, and having a nice drink with the view. Around 11 PM, move inside; they have a small club vibe with the live music.

Love this amazing place. I absolutely love the music and the singers. Nearly all the songs played were familiar and easy to dance to. I just love the place and the singers.
I went there with my friend to celebrate my birthday, and the waiter gave us Tequila shots on the house (first round). How amazing is that?! Love these fellas!
Clara
I love this place so much. I love the music. The band is just amazing. Love the songs! The DJ, she's damn awesome! It was an amazing birthday night. Service was fantastic. My friend and I got tequila shots on the house for the first round. Just because my friend mentioned that it was my birthday, they brought something over. I just loved it. I can't wait to go back there soon.
