I recently had lunch at the restaurant. The last time I was here was at least a year ago.
I ordered the Chicken Korma, Sambal Fish, Sayur Lodeh and Begedil with rice. No drinks.
Taste-wise, it was good. The chicken was tender, the fish was crispy, the Sambal was fragrant without being overly spicy. The begedil was average. The only letdown was the Sayur Lodeh. I can only say I’ve had much, much better tasting ones for much less than $5 a serving.
However, when you factor in the cost of the meal, it becomes a bit absurd. I paid $32 for what I ordered (listed above) with rice. I mean, yes, the food was good, but it wasn’t extraordinary. It wasn’t the kind that would make most people (I believe) want to go back again. And I understand the location warrants some level of premium surcharge. But $32 for essentially a plate of Nasi Padang served in small dishes. I told myself I would not be eating there again unless I strike a windfall.
TLDR: eat there if you’re looking for decent Nasi Padang and you’re not a common salaryman like me.

My partner and I just had lunch at Rendezvous Restaurant Hock Lock Kee, and it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We’re both extremely disappointed and angry that we spent good money on what turned out to be an absolute scam.
• The food was cold — not even lukewarm. It’s shocking that they would serve pre-cooked food that’s been sitting around for who knows how long.
• Completely bland. There was zero flavour, no spice, no aroma — just sad, soggy dishes that tasted like they’d been made with no care whatsoever.
• Ridiculously overpriced. For what we got (cold rice, tasteless sides, and watery curry), we might as well have thrown money in the bin. You’re paying for nostalgia or reputation, not quality.
• Lack of variety and freshness. Even the basics like sambal and rendang were underwhelming and felt mass-produced, not like authentic, lovingly-prepared nasi padang at all.
• Service was cold too — no greeting, no smile, just rushed and indifferent.
We should’ve just taken a Grab to Hjh Maimunah or Rumah Makan Minang instead — both places actually serve fresh, flavorful, and authentic nasi padang instead of trying this. Lesson learned the hard way.
Honestly, this place is trading on its name and old-school reputation, but the food and experience are completely undeserving of it. We left still hungry, still angry, and feeling completely cheated.
Avoid at all costs. There are way better and more authentic nasi padang places in Singapore. This one’s just coasting on its past and fooling people who don’t know better.

First and last time here.
- I ordered one curry chicken leg which was cold, and the curry sauce lacked depth and flavor. It was the most bland curry I've ever had. I don't like food that's too spicy or oily, but it must at least have some flavor. And worse, it was served cold. And this leg cost $10.90!!!
- The mutton curry meat was tough, but the curry this time had more flavor, though it was cold as well. I really don't like food served cold, especially at such prices in a restaurant. I almost spit out every piece of meat. This small bowl cost $6.20.
- A very small piece of fried fish: $6.20.
- A warm glass of lemon barley: $5.50!! Can you believe it???
- When I asked for another curry sauce, like Assam curry, to try, the waitress told me that since I ordered chicken and mutton, she couldn't give me Assam curry sauce. It's already so expensive; why be so stingy over a small plate of sauce? My curry chicken already had sauce, and they gave me another bowl of similar sauce. I really don't understand the mentality here.
Look at the pictures: the small fish covered in chili sauce, chicken and mutton, mixed vegetables, and a glass of lemon barley.
The total bill was $44.93, but they rounded up to $45. Can they charge customers extra by rounding up? It's only 7 cents, but can you charge customers extra in principle? They told me the system is like that, but then your system is fundamentally wrong.

This Indonesian-inspired food restaurant is very spacious and an extremely popular place, especially on the weekend. You order and pay at the counter. The dishes are served in small bowls, and the food is brought to your table. Casual dining. Well air-conditioned. 6 of us ordered 8 dishes, and that was more than sufficient.

As many have mentioned, food might not be served piping hot because ingredients are cooked and chopped separately before the hot curry is added.

Good, traditional Patong curry dishes. We had the rendang chicken thigh, fish curry, beef soup, sayur lodeh, begadel, and tauhu mixed vegetables. Comforting midday lunch. Above average, but not at a great level. I remember they had a lot more options during those days, at their location along Selegie/Bras Basah near the Rendezvous Hotel. The standard dropped a notch.

It’s been a long time since I returned to eat after they moved to Central Mall.
I used to love their rendang mutton.
Today I tried it, and it’s still as soft as it used to be, but somehow I feel the flavor seems not as strong or fragrant as before. Don't be mistaken, though; it’s still good.
Their potato dish is very, very nice, but very big and filling.
Their rendang chicken is very nice—tender and juicy.
A meal for two people cost $78. The damage is on the higher side.
But it’s one of the few good, authentic food options left.

First time trying this restaurant's nasi padang. The dishes are really yummy and authentic. There are different chilli and gravies for different dishes. We ordered begedil, squid, fried chicken, rendang chicken, eggplant, sayur lodeh, and egg. Each dish had its own taste, especially the chicken rendang. The gravy is superb. The price is slightly on the high side compared to the portion size, but it's acceptable for an occasional meal.

I haven't been here in a long while. I'm surprised they have assam pedas fish head for just $23! It was good for 4 people. We had to wait for 15 to 20 minutes because they had to cook it there and then. It was fresh and really delicious. We also had the chicken rendang thigh, cabbage salad, and pickled salad. The chicken thigh was tender, and both salads were yummy too. I'm going back soon for the yummy, delicious assam pedas fish head.

Chanced upon this place when I wanted to eat Ramen but realized that Santouka Ramen was permanently closed. A little pricey, but each curry has its unique taste! My favorite is the mutton curry and curry vegetables! After trying out their curry, I think I will revisit at least once a month!

We took a leap of faith and ordered a few dishes to share—and we weren’t disappointed. While the spice level was milder than we’d hoped for, the food was still delicious and satisfying.
I’m giving it 4 stars mainly because the dishes could’ve been served a bit warmer.
That said, the friendly service and overall experience made up for it.

An amazing day spent in this area.
For lunch, this Nasi Padang-style Indonesian food really amazed my palate.
The food was on the mild side, which means not as spicy as authentic Indonesian food, but the flavour was on point.
The price is a little higher, but I understand given the location. There were price boards, which means no hidden costs.

A place where you can taste a mixture of Nyonya, Indonesian, Malay, and Chinese flavours, represented by their rendang.
Rendang chicken and curry chicken each has its own flavour, but I prefer the rendang chicken.
Eggplant with chilies looks hot but is soothing while eating, not spicy at all. The fragrance of spices and freshly ground chilies, I believe.
The service is exceptional, with staff who are friendly with regulars, which makes the dining experience homely.
The food I consider home-cooked flavour that makes you feel like you're enjoying 5-star dining at home.
Price is very affordable for a restaurant.
Highly recommended.
