I have heard a lot about this barbershop and thought I'd give it a go, since there were only about three people inside. The moment I stepped in, I took a seat. Big mistake. The only male barber stared at me (scowled) and gestured with his comb, pointing for me to pay through the machine first.
Okay, that's quite rude.
So I went there. Luckily, I had a $5 and $10 note. (Apparently, that's what the machine accepts.)
I tried inserting the $10 note multiple times, but it kept rejecting the note. I turned and saw the male barber give me a very unhappy face. I was about to walk out until a brown-haired auntie told me, "Let me change it for you."
At that point, I was like, "Okay, whatever." But I was still nice and very polite.
After that, she told me to take a seat, and I told her how to cut it. I said to cut the sides short and just trim a bit off the top because I wanted to keep my hair longer.
The result was a very short haircut.
At this point, I just wanted to leave, write a review, and never come back.
For those who want to come here,
Stick to kcuts.
And to the male barber, mind your manners and learn to be polite.

First and last time of getting a haircut here.
The moment the female barber started shaving my hair, I could already tell she was very inexperienced.
She couldn't even do a proper fade; everything was shaved unevenly.
Lots of holes here and there.
And she completely shaved off the back of my hair until it was bald, with no hope of salvaging it.
The proportions of my hair look very weird and uneven.
Getting a haircut is supposed to make us feel good and confident.
But with this lady's skill, I am forced to wear a hat because of this poor and ugly haircut.
She still said that the back side still had hair and it looked very good.
Aunty, I think there is something wrong with your taste in fashion.

I went for a haircut and asked to shorten and thin my hair. The stylist asked me how short I wanted to cut my hair, and I showed her what I wanted with my fingers. She remarked that it wasn't even an inch. My hair was permed. She asked me if the curls and volume bothered me, and I said no!
I don't know why she thought her objective was to cut my hair as short as possible. Halfway through the haircut, she even said that was the shortest she could go, but I didn't ask to cut as short as possible. I only needed a trim. She essentially cut away all of my perm and left the overgrown roots.

I would put zero stars if I could. I got a bad haircut from a lady today. I requested my hair be cut short with a bit of layering, but she ended up just cutting it short without any further trimming or layering. Both sides of my hair are at different lengths, and many strands of hair are not cut properly (i.e., longer than the rest). I might as well cut my hair myself instead of spending $15 on this.

Decided to try a haircut here after reading good reviews, but sadly, it turned out to be the worst experience. I would have given 0 stars if there was an option. I visited on a quiet weekday afternoon, and there was only one customer getting her haircut at the time. The other female hairdresser was free and was looking at her phone, so naturally she came to me when I stepped inside. Knowing my hair texture well, I highlighted a few very specific points to her and asked for a trim of my long hair. She did not ask any questions and proceeded to work. As she looked quite experienced, I left my hair in her hands. She worked very quickly, not once bothering to check with me about the cut (she was done even before the other customer had finished, and there was no customer waiting). I looked in the mirror and my heart sank. My hair and fringe were cut way shorter than I asked for, with way too many layers. I knew it would take at least a month for my hair to hopefully grow out, and in the meantime, I would need to keep it tied up. By the way, I found out this hairdresser's name is Lily. Obviously, she does not care about her customers’ needs and just cuts as she likes. So much for being a so-called 'professional'. Hopefully, my review will help future customers.
P.S. I forgot to mention earlier: Once she finished my hair, all the used scissors and tools were left in the tray uncleaned, while she immediately went to sit by the door, looking at her phone again. Thinking back now, I seriously wonder if the tools were properly cleaned/sanitized before she cut my hair…. I really super duper regret visiting this shop!

I have tried several other express cut services. I finally found Kojimaya hair stylists to be friendly, patient, and skillful. I have been here 3 times with my sister. We are very happy with Lena and the other stylists.
There are times the queue is long, and it is hard to predict when the salon is less busy. What many don't realize is that for Express Cut ($12) service, you just have to take a number and wait for your turn, even though you are a regular customer. You cannot fault the stylists for the long wait; they cut hair non-stop to clear the queue. If a customer doesn't want to wait, then he/she patronizes a regular salon that can book appointments!

I’ve been a loyal customer of Kojimaya for years, and I have to say, Lily is the best hairstylist I’ve ever had. She is skillful, patient, and meticulous in her work. What truly sets her apart is her dedication—she even stayed until 9 PM just to perfect my haircut. I truly appreciate her effort.

I came all the way from Pasir Ris to this place after a friend’s recommendation and the mostly positive Google reviews. I must say I’m impressed.
George attended to me. He was courteous and helpful. Of course, the most important part is he did a good job cutting my hair! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

For $15, the hairdressers at Kojimaya cut women's hair the best (compared to other express haircut brands). They are efficient and meticulous. Best value for money.

Just had my haircut by Kelvin at Kojimaya at The Central. He was really patient and did a fantastic job, ensuring a perfect cut all around. I will definitely come back for your service, as I've just found the perfect place and stylist for my hair. Thank you.

My first cut here was about a year ago, in 2024, when I still had short hair. Cherine cut my hair, and she really took the time to advise me and texturize it. This left a good impression and fully convinced me to return.
On April 17th, I returned for a maintenance trim, as I've been growing out my hair for the past six months. I was a bit hesitant to return because most quick salon/barber shops aren't good with scissor work on long hair. Luckily, I got Cherine again, who was able to give me a really good scissor cut. I told her clearly that I was trying to grow out my hair for a male ponytail, but that it was currently messy and very heavy. She helped me thin out my hair, gave me a taper, and even fixed all the messed-up portions left behind by a previous barber I'd visited two or three months prior. She also followed my preferences and asked me before making any major cuts. For instance, she advised me that a slope/fade on my sides would look better on me, but I told her I really wanted to try having a ponytail. She didn't insist on the slope and just used scissors instead. Thanks, Cherine! I will definitely visit again for my next maintenance cut.

My usual go-to place when I need a haircut. All the staff there are super friendly. Even during peak hours, fellow stylists will still give you the full attention you need and make sure your hair is properly done.
It's usually crowded on weekends and weekdays after working hours. Try to plan your visit slightly earlier to avoid long queues.

I've been going to Kojimaya for the past three years, and it is such good value.
I always make sure to ask for Lily, who is usually very much in demand but well worth the wait. She always takes care in cutting my hair and takes the time to check that every part of my hair is well balanced.
Thank you, Lily!

I had a great experience with Rali! Even though it was just an express haircut, he really took his time and paid attention to the details. I can tell he puts his heart into his work. Thank you!
